How the Podcast came to be…

Barnabas, coordinator of 2D Animation at Seneca Polytechnic in Toronto wanted to learn Pro Tools (the industry standard audio engineering software) to teach his animation grad students at Seneca.

He pulled in his 6 year old son Ollie who was way into pirates at the time, and together they started goofing around with one mic. That was episode 1. It turned out pretty okay, so he connected another microphone and decided to test some reverb (echo) plugins for the second episode.

By episode 3 the duo hit their stride with their dual roles of both Redbeard Scruffy and Pegbeard, but adding the dreaded Robot Pirates, General Electrik & Lone Drone utilizing some pitch and voice modulation.

The father and son duo have a few half-finished episodes in the bag, one with the shadow pirates, and the riddles of the Kraken.

They also put together a promo pulling in some favours from Barnabas’ animation industry friends. Thanks for listening and supporting their adventure in audio.
